LLAMAS!!!

Hello friends and fam!!

This week was fast and slow! haha.

On Tuesday we had intercambios and I was with Hna Winter, who is from Utah and just as white and blonde as me, and she's only one cambio (6 weeks) ahead of me in the mission, we're both fairly new. We taught 5 lessons! We walked around the streets of Mariscal 1 in Ayacucho Peru and taught the gospel in Spanish!!!! I'm proud of us and my confidence boosted just a smidge. She taught more than I did but I understood everything being said in the lessons and discussions, it was great.

It rained and stormed like crazy again this week, I LOVE IT.  It makes it interesting to get places but it's an adventure.

3 months down in the mish everyone!! If you count the CCM, which I definitely do. Just thought I'd keep you all updated.

We had an awesome activity and FHE with our progressing investigators this week and I'm so excited for them! They are so interested in learning the gospel and I hope they keep making their commitments and learn for themselves of the truthfulness that we know. I love them so much.

The best part of this week was today! We traveled to Razuhuillca as a zone and saw beautiful mountains, lakes, LLAMAS, sheep, and so many more beautiful things that can't be captured over camera. My bff Hna Boyd took pics for me since my camera is muerte. So hopefully those send and you guys can see my pics of llamas and such! haha

Hna Boyd and I have been teaching Elder Pittha (from Peru but speaks really good english) weird phrases and movie lines in English and it's hilarious. His favorite is what's up dawg (to an actual dog) and other hilarious things to hear native Spanish speakers say. I love it, he makes us laugh.

I have started reading the Book of Mormon solely in Spanish (should've started awhile ago) this week in hopes of learning more in the language and in the gospel. I didn't want to read solely in Spanish because I like English and like reading in English but I've realized I need to try to start doing everything in Spanish to really be immersed in the language. A verse that I love in 1 Nefi is *E iba guiado por el Espiritu, sin saber de antemano lo que tendria que hacer.* or in English, 1st Nephi 4:6 *And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing before hand the things which I should do.*  I love this scripture because I am learning to rely wholly on the Holy Ghost, or the Spirit, when teaching real people lessons about the gospel in Spanish, a new language for me. I know that when I prepare for these people and try to have a humble heart, I can be more open to learning from the Spirit what I need to do and say to touch these people. I KNOW THIS GOSPEL IS TRUE!  I'm grateful for the guia del Espiritu y todas las cosas que estoy aprendiendo (guidance of the Spirit and all the things that I am learning).

I love you all! Have a fantastic week!

Conversation with Brittany through email

Deb: Have you been able to listen to your music much? (we sent her with five flash drives of mission approved music to play on her portable speaker)

Brittany: yes! I listen to my music often and have new music as well, its a christian band called Un Corazon or Living and it's in Spanish and I'm trying to learn the lyrics! my fav is Eterna Luz, you should look  it up! and Jesu Cristo basta and Sombre de sus alas. so good

Deb: What was Dia de los Muertos like in Peru?

Brittany:  It was interesting! barely anyone worked and the bus fares were twice as expensive. People were everywhere and traffic was terrible, it was almost better to walk than to take public transit. Flowers were being sold on steroids and I'm sure the cemeteries were full of treats and people and flowers, but we tried to avoid the big crowds. There was a lot of drinking, too, and ice cream! haha! a fun celebration that I was mostly sheltered from.
