Just another week in paradise

I survived my first concilio de líderes (leader's council) this week!  It went well and I gained an appreciation for my leaders, past and present, here on the mission.  I sang a duet with an elder as the special musical number so that was interesting.

We helped pass out chicken for a fundraiser on Saturday morning and helped at an open house in the afternoon that same day.  The other days of the week, we study or go to meetings in the mornings and contact and visit people in the afternoons/evenings.

Hermana Cook cracks me up and keeps me motivated.  Love her.

That's my quick update from this week.  We're expecting to have a baptism this Friday so that's exciting!!

Have a great week!

"Every day is Disneyland"

The best thing that happened this week has to do with the fact that Luisana is so excited for her baptism date!  She's reading her Book of Mormon, praying, going to church, and joining the sisters in the ward to activities.  She has a lot of good friends at church and her daughter, Saray, loves primary.  We taught her about eternal marriage, temples, and family history and she loved that.  Can't wait to see her family dressed in white, or standing in front of the temple.  I LOVE THEM.

My new hijita is amazing and a hard worker.  She's also very funny and cracks me up all the time.  We're getting to know each other as I show her around our area and how the mission works.  She asks so many questions and loves learning more and more.  She commented this week that everyday is like Disneyland bc we walk so much and because there are so many different smells, HA HA.  Love her.  We love Perú.

This week I'm grateful for the power of prayer.  I know that God listens to each one of us and answers our prayers ALWAYS, but in the way that He knows is best for us.

I love you guys.  Don't forget to say your prayers!  It only takes a few minutes and is SO worth it.  Show God your gratitude and ask for what you need.  He is aware of you in every moment.

Plot Twist!

Well, here I am, still in Lima - La Campiña.  But...with a new companion!  Es super loco.  Mi hijita had a transfer to AYACUCHO after only one transer with me and I'm training another new sister, again!  It's insane.  President also called me to be Hermana Leader in La Campiña, so it's basically a drastic change that I never thought would happen.  Hermana Lundgreen and I were excited and expecting that she'd be my companion until I finished my mission....but plot twist!!  Did NOT see that coming.

So Hermana Lundgreen and I enjoyed our last week together without knowing it was our last week together.  Que triste.  We brought (well, God helped us bring) 12 investigators to church on Sunday!!  A miracle.  Luisana, an investigator that we have with a baptism date, came with her husband and 2 daughters and her older daughter (Sarai, 7 years old) sang and participated in the Primary program!  It's a presentation that the kids put on in church once a year.  It was adorable.  Little kids speaking in Spanish make my heart melt.  We also found a lot of new investigators this week and were on a roll when we got the unexpected call to change.  I'm sad but I know that God has called Hermana Lundgreen (mi primera hijita) to Ayacucho for a reason.  They must really need her right now.  I'll miss her but I know she'll do amazing.  I'm proud of how far she's come.

So my new companion is Hermana Cook!  She's from Iowa and is already so fun.  She studied Spanish for 5 years so she's already to a level that I was after like 6 months in the mission, ha ha.  She's great.  She's so excited to work and loves saying hi to everyone and everything.  She's gonna pick up fast on everything.

On her first day, which was yesterday, we visited Silvia (our favorite member/my mission mom #5), found a new and very interested lady, Maria, and then taught a lesson to the Palacious family and invited them to baptism.  It was a great day and we were/are exhausted.  This point in my mission is really bittersweet because I wasn't prepared to have my daughter taken away from me and receive another!  So I'm sad for that aspect, but super excited because I already love Hermana Cook and I know we're gonna see miracles here in these next 3 months.  I wish I could be with the both of them, ha ha.  But it's ok, I know that everything happens for a reason and that God has the bigger picture.

I love the mission!  still learning so much and just trying to take it all in.
Have a great week, everyone!
