Cambio 7, Semana 4
Hello from Ica, Perú.
Well everyone's been going crazy with the soccer games here recently. There are hardly people in the streets because they're all watching the games either in their homes or in restaurantes. And the people who are in the streets are decked out in red and white jerseys. #represent
This Tuesday Hermana Boyd and I kicked it as companions for a day in intercambios and it was great. I love being with her and with us four hermanas together in Ica. They're a blast and we always eat good together, ha ha.
On Thursday we did invasions in the San Joaquin Ward as missionaries. Basically, the elders from San Joaquin gave us each a list of people to find and visit in their area to give them a little bit of support and so Hermana Pinos and I had fun getting lost in a place called Santa Rosa and just talking to whoever we could. It was good. Nothing crazy.
It's so crazy because now in Ica it's so cold! Before, when I first got here, I was literally dying from the heat, had not unpacked a single cardigan or coat from my suitcases since Ayacucho, and relented the mornings because I knew it would soon be too hot to think or function. But now I'm thriving in the cold, ha ha. Now it's hard to get up at 6:30am because it's "freezing" (our house is made of bricks and cement and tile), but I'm not complaining because it's better than not being able to sleep in immense heat and begging for a slightly cool breeze to flow through the window. Okay, I'll stop being dramatic. That's my weather update for this week.
Okay, so here's an update on an investigator that we're visiting. His name is Fernanado and he's 17. He just moved into our area and the elders from San Joaquin 2 were teaching him before. We've only taught him twice but he's so ready for baptism! He could get baptized tomorrow but his mom wants him to have more time to think about it and she wants to see a change in him first so we'll see. We're working really hard with him; he's awesome. He's already told us that he would like to serve a mission so that's super bacan. (Bacan means "cool", not a misspelled version of bacon, ha ha). Anyway that'a a little update on him. He's doing great.
This week we've scheduled for a lot of Family Home Evenings with the members of the ward, so we've got our work cut out for us this week. I'm a little stressed because the ward is demasiado helpful and supportive and I feel like I'm not doing enough to satisfy everyone's expectations, ya know? But the good thing is, I only have to satisfy the Lord's expectations to be a successful missionary, right? That's the good thing.
