An Eventful Week

Hello everyone!! What a week it has been! SO many things have happened.. I will try to type fast.

To start, my camera is fixed! I bought a charger solely for my battery last week and it was pretty cheap and now I have a working camera again! which also means I have SO many pictures to send :) haha

My comp and I made chocotejas with a member and they were sooo good. its a chocolate shell with manjar and peanuts or coconut or raisins inside. Super yummy!

This week we went to Lima for entrevistas with Presidente, a temple trip (or two), and a capacitacion with Elder Falabella, the Presiding Area 70. It was AWESOME. I was so tired after the two day trip and two 12 hour bus rides but HEY it was so fun and inspiring. I also got to see my friends from Ica, Chinca, and Lima. :)))

THIS WEEK WE HAD OUR FIRST BAUTISMO!!!!!!! WHOO!! haha. It was SO GOOD. I'll send so many pictures, don't even worry. Us four missionaries in Las Americas barrio sang Yo Se Que Vive Mi Señor, (the first verse in English, courtesy of Hna Boyd y yo) and the service went great. Joel, our converso, is so happy and wants to serve a mission! He's 19 so he's got time. I'm just all around so happy idk how else to describe it.

This week I helped an investigator with his English homework for THREE HOURS: haha. Kinda fun, kinda trying on my patience haha but now I know how people feel with me and my Spanish (sorry companion).

Today we went to Quinua, a famous monument in Ayacucho marking their independence from Spain. It's cool, but what was cooler was the hike we went on in the mountains past Quinua and the waterfall we saw. Absolutely gorgeous. Kind of felt like I was in Kanarraville, Utah or up near Big Bear, California. Super pretty! It's always fun to get together as a zone on pdays and do cool things.

FOUND A SCORPION IN OUR APARTMENT THIS WEEK. yup. I screamed. almost died. don't worry, it's tiny. Which I've actually heard is worse. So pray I don't die here in Peru from a scorpion. Wearing shoes 24/7 around the house now. & also checking my shoes before I put them on every morning hahaha. I hope I survive here in Peru for 18 months, considering the bugs here... :)

Two kids in our ward got their mission calls! Both to Peru, one to Trujillo South and the other to Arequipá? I think. They're both the piano players in our ward so I hope we don't fall apart after they leave haha.

On Sunday I spoke in church! Gave a talk on repentance and it was nice to study the topic and figure out how to describe my thoughts and feelings in Spanish. It was a lot easier to write this talk than the ones I wrote in the CCM, so that's good that I'm progressing a little haha.

Well, my friends, I have so many pictures to send, so gtg! I love you all! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving full of friends, family, and food. I was in Lima, went to the temple, and ate good pollo a la brasa and a cupcake made by Hermana Richey, so it was a good day. LOVE YOU ALL!

Deb: Any idea about details of Christmas Day? Do we get to skype you?
Brittany: yes! all I know is it will be at a members house and be about 40 minutes to an hour. (so an hour) haha
Deb:  What did you like the best from your package?
Brittany: MOM ARE YOU KIDDING ME the package!!!!! the best thing that's ever happened to me!!!!!
Deb:  Have you opened everything?
Brittany: no!! I didn't open everything wrapped (except the redvines... oops I could tell what they were and didn't want them to go stale HAHA) but everything is SO AMAzING!!! the protein powder and bars are a lifesaver and the candy that I can't buy here gets me through!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. and my apartment is so cute in Thanksgiving decor!!
Brittany: (In response to Deb's letter)  aw momma thank you for the awesome update.  SO PROUD OF BRADEN for finishing his eagle project!! way to go bud!!
Deb:  Do you ever get fresh vegetables?
Brittany: sometimes... when we eat with Carolina I do which is a couple times a week.. and this week I bought tomatoes and just cut them up and ate them with salt.. so yummy! don't worry, I washed them first.
Deb: How are your shoes?  Think you'll need me to send you new ones eventually?
Brittany: they're great! I have so many and also we found rain boots in another sister's apartment this week that fit me and no one else bc I have big feet so now I have rain boots! to borrow while here haha!
Deb: YAY! That's awesome....will it get hot in Ayacucho at all?  I wish you could stay there the whole time...it sounds like everywhere else in the mission is getting pretty hot.
Brittany: haha I wish I could stay here too! being in Lima for a couple days stressed me out a little bc it's such a big city. I like the smaller city here in Ayacucho. It won't be hot while I'm here.. I don't think. It's raining right now! so fun!
Deb: That's so awesome that you have gotten to enjoy the rain....you're so lucky!  I need some pictures of you soaked from the rain....ha ha
Brittany: will try! when we were soaked, my camera was broken, haha
Deb: I'm so proud of you!  You ARE DOING IT!!!  You are probably pretty close to being past the hard culture shock adjustment period....do you think?  You can understand more...and even gave a talk in sacrament meeting!!  That's so awesome....Oh, I just remembered that I wanted to tell you that I would love to hear your voice, hear you speak Spanish....so maybe you could take a video of yourself, practicing your lessons, or bearing your testimony and send it to us?  That would be an amazing Christmas present!!!!
Brittany: okay! maybe I can read my talk to you or something :) that might be kind of long though. But I can do that! I can tell the culture isn't as shocking and I can understand more Spanish, but it's still hard to conjugate past tenses and things like that.  gotta go! love you SO MUCH! so good to talk to you!
